Bird Watching

Embark on a journey of discovery with our Bird Walks, where enthusiasts and nature lovers can join expert guides to explore the island’s avian inhabitants. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or a beginner, these walks provide a unique opportunity to observe and learn about the rich birdlife that calls Randall’s Island Park home. The Alliance works to preserve and enhance a variety of habitats within the park, fostering an environment that supports the well-being of over 200 species of resident and migratory birds. Check our events calendar for adult and family birding opportunities throughout the year and our celebration of #BlackBirdersWeek, commemorating the BIPOC birding community through an afternoon of bird activities.

Nature Celebrations

Nature Celebrations

Join us for celebrations of the island’s flora and fauna! We host drop-in events with education, arts, tours, and more to celebrate the many plants, animals, and insects that call the park home. During Pollinator Week, RIPA hosts Pollinator Palooza, a day of butterfly and other pollinator-themed activities that teach about the importance of these creatures on the island. To celebrate International Migratory Bird Day, join us for Bird Bonanza, a multi-generational birding opportunity with bird-themed activities and tours. We sometimes bring live animals to the park to learn about them safely and respectfully.
